A Journey into the Deep was filmed aboard Karl Stanley's small submarine/submersible "Idabel" on a voyage from Half Moon Bay in West End on the island of Roatan, Honduras. We journeyed 1500 feet below the surface into the Cayman Trench on a late afternoon in January, 2012. The domed viewing window is four inches thick. For scale, you might see two green laser pointer dots in some of the footage that are a constant four inches apart. Almost all of the video footage was shot in HD on my iPhone 4S.
