In May, David graduated from the University of Utah with an MBA
Also in May, David's brother Nathan got married and we happily welcomed Lisa as our sister-in-law
David and his niece Rose horsing around
Shaunda and David in their wedding finery
With Shaunda's cousin Chris brother Ryan visiting their grandmother in Evergreen, Colorado. We enjoyed seeing Shaunda's aunts and uncles during the trip, as well.
David topping out on a fantastic sport climbing route in City of Rocks, Idaho
Exploring cliff dwellings during a trip to Mesa Verde, Colorado with our friends Stephen and Christina
Hiking a couple of slot canyons with our friends Katie & Ross
We enjoyed three backpacking trips to the Uinta Mountains, which are only an hour from our house. The meadow in the valley below Shaunda is not a golf course.
We met up with some friends in Yosemite. While the ladies hiked, Daniel and David scaled Higher Cathedral Spire, a pointy rock across from El Capitan.
Enjoying Yellowstone and the Tetons with Shaunda's parents
We managed to climb a number of local peaks. Clockwise from upper left: Mount Nebo, Mount Olympus, Sunset Peak, and King's Peak (David backpacked this one with his friend Jonathan).
David's favorite project this year has been helping a non-profit law firm get off the ground. The Atlantic recently featured Open Legal Services in an article about their innovative business model for sustainably providing affordable legal services to moderate and low income clients. Shaunda continues to practice at a small litigation firm and runs a free legal advice clinic twice a month in our neighborhood.
While we enjoy visits from friends and family, this summer we had an uninvited guest who broke into our home and stole some valuables one afternoon while we were at work. Thanks to several security camera systems in the neighborhood, we got good footage of the woman (yes, a woman!) with our belongings. She pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in January. David is now a firm believer in security camera systems and will gladly help you set one up. So far our cameras have only caught the neighborhood cats and racoons.
David's family congregated at Nathan and Lisa's house in Grand Junction, Colorado for Thanksgiving. The day before Thanksgiving Shaunda was diagnosed with celiac disease, so this holiday season we are mourning the loss of gluten and celebrating the rise of widely available gluten-free products.
Our friend Casey moved out of our basement, so we have set it up as a guest suite. Come stay with us!
We wish you all the best in 2015, and please stay in touch!
